Welcome

Original-Six

I grew up in Upstate New York and I am a lifelong hockey fan. I was born in the era of the original six NHL teams, and I remember watching players like Bobby Orr, Phil and Tony Esposito, Gordie Howe and Stan Mikita.TC-72-Hockey-Logo

I remember the 1972 Summit Series between Canada and Russia, and I cheered during the 1980 Olympics as the USA made us all believe in miracles.

HQygbdFmFor the past twenty years I have been a die-hard Washington Capitals fan. I had my heart broke when the Caps were swept by the Red Wings in 1998 for the Stanley Cup, and I have been waiting ever since for them to finally win one. (Update, June 2018, they did it!)

My favorite player, as you could probably guess, is Alexander Ovechkin, but I enjoy watching any talented hockey player ply their craft. Certainly, there are those that we love to hate, Sidney Crosby just to name one. Great player and tons of respect for him but he is one of our arch rivals, so I am obligated to view him with utter disdain.

Anyway, being such a huge hockey fan, I have always wanted to go to Canada (home of hockey) and attend a game in each of the Canadian cities that host an NHL team. As of today, those cities are Toronto,  Montreal, Ottawa,  Winnipeg,  Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver.

This blog is my way of commemorating my journey to reach that goal (see what I did there)?
